The State of Kansas began keeping Birth and Death Records in 1911. Russell County Historical and Genealogy Society has an extensive research and photograph library that includes pre-1911 records. Early day historians recorded these records, and often times included personal information not easily found, such as: dates, where the family lived, occupations, church affiliation, civil organizations, funeral arrangements and cause of death.
Some of the other documents available for research is census records; city plot books, cemetery plot books, school histories; maps and much more are available to those researching former Russell County residents.
Non-county researchers: For a minimal fee, our staff will research genealogical information and send copies to those who request the service. For more information contact the society by phone (785) 483-3637 or firstname.lastname@example.org or by letter
