Senator Robert J. Dole

Former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole has been called a “towering figure” and “the most enduring Republican leader of the twentieth century” but he still calls Russell, Kansas, his home.  He founded Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics on Kansas University campus. It was dedicated in July 2003.  It is a
non-partisan forum dedicated to students and public service.

Russell High School has the unique claim of having two-popular U.S. Senators Bob Dole and Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Spector as graduates from their school and run for the Nation's highest office in 1996. Memorabilia and time lines are on exhibit at Fossil Station Museum and Deines Cultural Center.

A photo opportunity awaits you at Bob Dole's Russell home.  (Private residence Sorry no house tours)
