The Russell County Historical Society was established in 1970 and become caretaker of
Russell County History by county election.

The Mission of Russell County Historical Society is one of education through safeguarding and preservation of county social and economic history. This is accomplished by collecting artifacts; preserving and displaying them; collecting materials and information representing the development and growth of the county.  Genealogy records are maintained.

New Extensive Historical Exhibit Annually May 31 - March 15

Please contact us before you dispose of items that might be useful in preserving the story of Russell County, i.e. scrapbooks, letters. There are many wonderful photos, however, we cannot accept pictures of unidentified people unless they are associated with identified buildings or events.

Due to lack of space, we cannot accept duplication of items, especially large ones, nor accept items that are too fragile to preserve.  Ammunition will not be excepted.

For your convenience our Accession Team makes house calls.
